SELFLESS LOVE [By Mrs. Huma Farooq Ahmad, Guest Writer]

INTRODUCTION: Today, Mrs. Huma Farooq Ahmad has contributed as a guest writer on "THE MAGAZINE AT BLOGSPOT", by writing on a topic relevant to "LIFESTYLE CORNER".

Each and every person's lifestyle is different. In my household pets play a very big part in everyday activities which make my lifestyle.

From 6.00 am, when Rocky, the dachshund, insists on coming into the bedroom of my parents and sleeping on the bed with my father.

Their breakfast of milk, fruits and nuts with my father, all together sitting on the veranda. Yes I am serious, all four have the same breakfast...!

The whole day keeps us busy with having to do some necessary activities at different times involving the three dogs.

Their every evening walk. They wait for that most eagerly. Know when it's their turn. I take them separately as all have their individual style of walking, plus their size of legs different too...!

At night locking up my gate is a ritual too. We run up and down the driveway pretending to catch someone or something...!

Every two weeks in summer giving them a bath is a tough assignment. Somehow they know when it's time. They will all hide. One of their favourite hiding place is under the lounge sofa. I assure you dragging a dog out from under it when it's pretending to be a stiff log is no easy job. After the anti tick shampoo bath they are all tied to the garden bench. That's the only time they are ever tied.

For my parents and me a life without pets is a life without joy. We will have so much free time on our hands. So much of devotion and love which I get from the three dogs can only be realised by people who have pets. Cindy, Dixie and Rocky, I love you too.

  4. Great article. The love you have for your pets exudes in this article. I have to add though, that your pets are e t remedy loyal too. Whenever I used to come they run the length of the opposite driveway and bark at me ;) indeed, pets are a great blessing.

    1. Truly yes. All living things are a blessing. This include trees and plants as well. They all come to this earth with a purpose. Am glad readers liking the article. A friend commented to me personally that even she would like to join the breakfast of milk, fruits & nuts. Welcome naila. My father would be most pleased!

  8. What a lovely post, Huma. Pets are so important in our lives. Our dog, Forest was a joy and had the best personality. He was part Black Labrador and part German Shepherd. He too would hide when it was bath time.

By the way, your garden is beautiful.

Thank you, Huma, for your lovely post.

  9. Thank you Susan so much. What a wonderful thing to make new aquintances through love of pets. Like my family and I say about ours. They are not dogs, they are family! Thank you for liking the garden. The plants we have here we see them in the hot houses there! My mother is a very keen gardener. We also have beautiful birds in the back of our house. Maybe write about them in future. Especially as I have just got around to saving two by feeding them by matchstick as they lost their Parents. Made videos & sent them to my granddaughter. She loves birds. It was an experience..

  10. Huma, that would be in interesting post about the birds in the back of your home. In our living room we have a large floor to ceiling window. Just outside of the window is a huge yew tree a couple of feet away. It is a favorite of many birds. Each spring we see a nest in the tree and can watch the birds on and in it. And year even in the winter the tree has many visitors. :)

  11. Wow. What fun to watch birds. These days we have the cuckoo coming to visit us like it does every year to lay egg in the crows nest. In end May we will see the baby cuckoo being fed by the foster parents, who thinks it's their own. The baby usually behave like a spoilt child by asking to be fed all the time. The Mr & Mrs crow looks quite harassed. The baby crows flies away much before the baby cuckoo. We have a good laugh seeing the crows being dictated. Though they are very intelligent, the crows, it's amazing how the cuckoo makes a fool out of them. In winter we have few lovely migratory birds from as far away as Russia. The red eyed Maina. The red breast Bulbul ( don't know what they are called in English ) The doves too come. We have a pair visit us everyday. It's lovely.

  14. I totally agree with Ramla on her views about Susan being a guest writer. Plus I am really curious to see a picture of Forest. It's an interesting mixture of a Lab with a German Shepherd .
