THE ONE FOR ME (By Ramla Zareen)

If I had to select only one signature perfume from all my favourites, then it would be an extremely difficult decision, but I would eventually chose THE ONE...!

Dolce & Gabbana is an Italian luxury fashion house founded in 1985 by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

Dolce & Gabbana's first fragrance, named simply Dolce & Gabbana for Women, was launched in 1992. A men's version followed in 1994.

The brand launched a series of fragrances over the years, with their Light Blue fragrances for men and women being among their most successful.

The latest perfume by Dolce & Gabbana is Dolce, a soft floral fragrance for women, which was launched in the beginning of 2014.

Anyway, coming back to THE ONE.

THE ONE for women, was launched by Dolce & Gabbana, in 2006.

As it was envisioned by the designers, THE ONE is a fragrance for an exceptional woman who instantly draws attention, not only with her looks, but also with her manners, pose and inner world.

Fragrance Notes:

Top: Mandarin, Bergamot, Litchi and Peach.

Heart: Jasmine, Lily of the valley, White Lily and Plum.

Base: Vetiver root, Amber, Musk and Vanilla.

My dear and loving husband, who usually considers perfumes as "money that get wasted by evaporating in thin air" surprised me one day with THE ONE.

Though extremely happy, I was also very interested to know the reason behind this unprecedented gesture.

Since usually he only gifts me one perfume every year, and that too of my liking, and that year's perfume was already bought about a month before.

Now at this point, I can sense all the guys who are reading this, either squirming in sympathy, or maybe smiling and rubbing their hands together in gleeful anticipation, and thinking, "poor man, got trapped by his own generosity."

Well, all I can say is that, let this be a lesson to all the husbands out there...!

Either make 'surprise-gifts' a regular routine of your married life, or be ready with an acceptable story to satisfy a highly inquisitive wife...!

My practical (read: unromantic) husband was honest to the point of being blunt (read: rude).

He told me that there once worked a highly sophisticated woman in his office, who drove a BMW convertible, always dressed elegantly, and favoured Dolce & Gabbana brand.

So that day, when he happened to come upon this particular fragrance of Dolce & Gabbana, he liked it, and moreover hoped that a perfume of that brand would divert me back towards more sophisticated fragrances than the sweet and immature fruity scents that I was favouring those days, and that he deemed more suitable "for catching flies...!", and so he decided to present me with THE ONE...!

Hmmmmmm...

Well...!!!

Though I liked this perfume, and started wearing it, I must admit, that it took me a while to fully
appreciate the beauty of this fragrance.

However, I soon realized how special and wonderful it was.

It is one of those rare perfumes that blends all its notes with such perfection that it results in the most delightful and sophisticated fragrance.

The most prominent note I get is of Vanilla. But not in a heavy and overwhelming way. Instead, the Vanilla here is wonderful, sweet, creamy and powdery. It actually enhances the beauty of this fragrance, evens up all the other notes without suppressing any of them, and increases the overall loveliness of the fragrance. In fact, this perfume is a perfect example of how delightful a role Vanilla can play in a fragrance and it initiated and strengthened my love for the Vanilla note in fragrances.

Added to this is an enchanting combination of Mandarin, Bergamot, Peach, Litchi and Plum.

Now I have to confess that I do not at all like overpowering citrus notes in fragrances, so I usually tend to avoid perfumes that contain such notes, but in this case, both Mandarin and Bergamot are so nicely blended with the other notes, that instead of dominating over the fragrance, they subtly add to its beauty.

While the floral notes of Jasmine, Lily-of-the-valley and White Lily, though definitely and wonderfully, present, take a back seat, as compared to the fruity notes.

It's sweet yet sophisticated. It's elegant and special, but not in a cold and snobbish way, rather it's warm, delightful, lovely and simply marvellous.

Longevity and sillage are amazingly great on me. Though I think it's most appropriate for formal evening occasions in winters. But if I want to enjoy it during the day and I spray it on my neck after my morning shower, then I can smell it on me even till the next morning.

It really seems as if we are always meant to be together...!

Definitely, this is THE ONE for me...!
