EVEN BOSSY WIVES MUST DO THE DISHES (By Ramla Zareen)

Hugo Boss AG is a German fashion and lifestyle house, founded in 1924 by Hugo Boss.

Originating in Metzingen and still based there today, the company offers multiple lines of fashions and accessories under the core brands Hugo and Boss.

The company produces fragrances in conjunction with Proctor & Gamble Prestige. Fragrances for men and women are offered under both the Boss and Hugo brands.

The first fragrance was 'Boss Number One' for men, launched in 1985.

After several fragrances for both men and women, Hugo Boss launched 'Boss Nuit Pour Femme' in 2012.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

This is a women's fragrance inspired by the eternal elegance of little black dresses and confidence that it gives to women. The perfume was created to complete the sophisticated smartness of a woman before her evening out.

Fragrance Notes:
Top:  Aldehydes and Peach.
Heart: Jasmine and Violet
Base: Crystalline moss and Creamy sandalwood.

MY REVIEW

Though pleasant, it doesn't seem special and sophisticated enough for an evening occasion that would require an elegant black dress...!

Plus it has poor longevity and sillage. Three sprays lasted only a little more than an hour on me, and even then, the last 15 minutes or so I had to put my nose right to my wrist in order to smell it. However, since few perfumes last long on me, so this could just as well be a flaw in me.

I would suggest that it's good enough to try out at least once. It may lack the 'wow-factor', and maybe majority people won't want to spend money on it, but still, I for one, wouldn't mind wearing it for casual or at most semi-formal occasions, but only if I get it as a gift...!

In 2013, Hugo Boss launched 'Boss Jour Pour Femme'.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

This women's fragrance is based on three key facets:

The 'light facet' is reminiscent of the first light of the day.  Lightness and freshness are presented with a combination of accented accords of lime and grapefruit blossom representing the liveliness of the first morning rays of light that radiate with positive anticipation.

The 'inspiring facet' adds a little colour to whatever the day might hold. Inspiration is retold with a rich bouquet of white flowers, including flowers of freesia, lily of the valley and honeysuckle celebrating the femininity and beautiful diversity of life of every woman.

And the 'elegantly composed facet' mirrors feminine inner strength. Composure is described with a more powerful, masculine finish which includes accords of white birch and creamy amber.

A spritz of 'Boss Jour Pour Femme' allows the woman a moment of indulgence every morning to fully prepare and inspire her for the day ahead.

MY REVIEW

Well, one spritz on the edge of my shirt sleeve, and the smell of lime, and not light and fresh lime either, but rather a concentrated and overpowering lime essence, not unlike a washing detergent, invaded my senses, as I 'anticipated and prepared' for a day that would be spent in doing household chores...!

After I was done with washing the dishes (with 'Pril-Lime-Dishwash-Liquid'), cleaning the house and other such routine housework, the smell of lime on my shirt was still so strong even 5 hours after application, that it further 'inspired' me to change my clothes and do one more round of laundry so that my shirt could be washed as well, hence keeping me focused on my household tasks throughout the day...!

I guess the 'elegant composure and feminine inner strength' facet may come in, when a housewife, who by the way, would be no ordinary housewife, but a 'bossy wife' who indulges in 'Boss' fragrances, even after being compelled to cook the meals, wash the dishes, clean the house, scrub the floors, disinfect the bathrooms, laundry the clothes, etc etc etc, would greet her husband in the evening not with frustrated nagging, but instead, would retain her composure and would take her revenge in an elegant manner, with the help of 'Boss Jour Pour Femme', by exposing him to the same smell that she has to endure all day long...!

Anyway, as everyone must have realized by now, this perfume is certainly not for me.

I would only recommend it to those who are a lover of strong citrus fragrances in general, and of lime note in particular, as one surely can't get stronger lime than this...!

In 2014, Hugo Boss launched 'Boss Ma Vie Pour Femme' the latest fragrance in this line.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

'Boss Ma Vie Pour Femme' is inspired by the independent spirit of a woman as she pauses to indulge in the simple moments in life; a walk home at dawn, the sun on her skin, the touch of a flower. It is in these moments, when truly treasuring life, that the Boss Ma Vie Pour Femme woman is her most captivating, exuding a glow of femininity and confidence.

The composition is described as a fresh, indulging and unique.

It consists of three parts called “modernity”, which is featured in top notes of cactus flower and its green freshness, "femininity", which is depicted with the heart of pink freesia, jasmine and delicate rose buds, and the base of warm woods and cedar embodies "confidence".

MY REVIEW

I have to confess that I was very pleasantly surprised with 'Boss Ma Vie Pour Femme'.

A delightful, fresh, floral fragrance, with main emphasis on rose.

Ideal for leisure days, spent outside, either lazing about on a park bench, walking around, or window shopping, having meals in small restaurants or cafes, alone, or with close friends or family members.

Also very appropriate for office wear, where the main objective for a woman is to smell good in a subtle way, without offending or suffocating colleagues with her perfume, and to emit both modernity and confidence, without losing her femininity.

I personally could have done with better longevity and sillage, though. Since three sprays last not more than 4 hours on me, and after about 2 hours or so, it lies very close to my skin.

Even then, the fragrance is so lovely, that I would be willing purchase it and would wear it happily.

In my opinion, the best of the series, definitely one of my favourite fragrances, and so, highly recommended by me...!

    1. Well, my first introduction to Hugo Boss fragrances was "Hugo" which is one of my favourite perfumes for men.

"Chanel Allure Homme Sport", "Dior Fahrenheit" and "Lacoste Red" are few other of my favourite perfumes for men.

But anyway, I guess that's a topic for some another day...!

For now, I would just like to mention that so far, "Boss Ma Vie Pour Femme" is the only Hugo Boss fragrance for women that I love enough to include among my favourites...!

Anyway, I am glad that I was of some help to you :-)
